NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program
Accept The Challenge
Who isn’t interested in improving their accuracy? If you’re growing tired of trips to the range without defined goals, join the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program.
From a young shooter’s first BB gun to sophisticated air rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, pistols and rifles, the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program offers shooters a self-paced training platform to develop their shooting skills. It’s a drill. We set the standards and you meet the challenge! Progression is self-paced and scores are challenging but attainable. Performance is measured against established par scores and any shooter who meets or exceeds those scores is entitled to the corresponding recognition awards for that rating..
The Marksmanship Qualification Program adds structure and achievable goals to your range visits, helping you develop and improve your marksmanship skills. Qualification shooting is completely informal and is available throughout the year. The program sets milestones for progress and provides prizes along the way.
As you reach the different rating levels, you’ll receive a medal, certificate and patch to recognize your shooting prowess. Everyone starts out with a large discipline patch and the rating patches are smaller so that they can be arranged around the larger one. The courses of fire in the qualification program are designed to take shooters from beginning skill levels (Pro-Marksman and Marksman) through intermediate levels (Marksman 1st Class, Sharpshooter, and Expert) up to the nationally recognized skill level and pinnacle of the program, Distinguished Expert. By the time a shooter completes the Distinguished Expert rating in rifle, pistol and shotgun, he/she has attained a proficiency level paralleling that of a competitively classified Sharpshooter. Qualification shooting can be conducted anywhere including public ranges, at your favorite club range, or even on your own home range. Qualification shooting can be conducted anywhere—on public ranges, at your favorite club range, even on your own home range.
